Christmas and New Year’s parties can be a lot of work! At my house it always seems like the last hour is a race against the clock: setting out food, ice, getting ready and dealing with last minute crises like a backed up garbage disposal! I hope these Four Easy Make-Ahead Party Foods help ease the stress and panic so you can have FUN!
Spiced Pecans are easy to make and will last a week or two in a sealed container. You can also give them as gifts; just put some in a jar with a pretty ribbon.
Slow Cooker Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Asiago Cheese comes together in a couple of hours in your Slow Cooker! You can either make it the day of the party or even a week or so in advance. Just keep your dip in a sealed container in the fridge and reheat it in your slow cooker or even the microwave the day of the party. Slow Cooker Spinach and Artichoke Dip can be kept warm in a chafing dish or served in a bowl. Even if it starts out warm it’ll still be good as it cools to room temperature!
Make-Ahead Sausage Balls are my family’s favorite! We make them on the spicy side with a combination of Italian and breakfast sausage. Some people use Bisquick in their sausage balls but when I prefer stuffing crumbs. Try them! You can freeze then before baking, or bake your sausage balls in advance and freeze or refrigerate them.
Finally, an heirloom recipe for Shrimp Butter. It comes from my late Step-Grandmother and is a holiday favorite for our family. This cream cheese-based spread is a little stiffer than a dip, so I like to serve it with sturdier crackers or Crostini rather than flimsy chips. Shrimp Butter will last at least a week in the fridge; just garnish with a couple of fresh shrimp on Party Day!
