How to get the best deals on Amazon Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day is Tuesday, July 11th but some of the smaller deals have already started.  I’ve been watching the deals that are available today and it struck me: if you don’t regularly buy on Amazon, how do you know if you are getting the best deals on Amazon Prime Day? Is it a good day to buy a laptop, a TV or a tablet?  Or just groceries or clothing?

Previous years have shown the really good deals appear quickly, then disappear even more quickly!

That can be kind of frustrating, but there are some tricks of the trade to help you find good deals. Here are some ways to maximize your savings and make sure you’re getting a bargain:

First you need to sign up for a FREE 30 Day Trial if you’re not already a Prime Member! Click here!

Get the Best Deals on Amazon Prime Day with CamelCamelCamel

This website is pretty amazing, even with the odd name.  CamelCamelCamel is a site that will show you whether the price you are getting on an Amazon item is a good deal throughout history. Simply enter in the item you are interested in and CamelCamelCamel will tell you the historic lows and highs of the item.

That’s pretty cool, but MY favorite way to check CamelCamelCamel is to simply search for discounts by percentage discount, or by popular products.  I always love to know what is marked down 85 percent!

UPDATE: Here is a list of some of the top bargains to look for beginning at 9pm July 10th.

While CamelCamelCamel will tell you the prices Amazon has featured on a given product, you can search where there is a better price RIGHT NOW using Invisible Hand,  Invisible Hand is a Chrome Extension you add to your browser.  As you shop online, (for example, on Amazon) it will show you the same product at other prices across the Internet.  Handy!

I also start my web searches at Ebates.com.  Simply by starting a search on the Ebates site, you can get cash back on nearly everything you buy.  The amounts will by store. After your ebate rebates accumulate, you can get a refund,  (I haven’t checked my Ebates  balance in a while, it turns out I have a balance of about $35!  You can also rack up bonuses by referring friends!

I also installed Honey on my computer, which helps you find more coupon codes for discounts, free shipping and more.  I haven’t used Honey very much in the past but I’m going to give it a try for Amazon Prime Day.  Click here for an invitation to join!

Now that all these cool tools are ready to go, I’m taking the day off to go swimming and boating at Lake Lanier!  If you find any great pre-Amazon Prime Day Deals today, please post them below, email me or tweet me!  Sign up for my email list for more recipes and money saving tips!
