Time for some lightened up comfort food! Slow Cooker Three Cheese Shrimp and Grits is so easy and it’s not as decadent as it sounds, I promise! A few secret ingredients makes this a creamy, cheesy and easy dinner. Or breakfast. Or lunch. Or brunch.
The shrimp and grits came out AMAZING in the slow cooker, so I don’t think this dish is going to last until dinner time. My
skavengers tasters are already chowing down on it!
Shrimp and Grits is a very traditional Southern dish; the first time I had it was when I ordered it at Slightly North of Broad, also known as SNOB in Charleston, South Carolina back in 1999. I fell in love!
I used the quick cooking type of grits and I have no idea how long it would take in a slow cooker if you used the slower cooking ones.
Let me know if you try it when you make Shrimp and Grits!
Shrimp and Grits is an Effortless Recipe When Made in the Slow Cooker
I’m trying to keep this Shrimp and Grits recipe reasonably light by using chicken broth instead of milk or cream and Light Sharp Cheddar Cheese; you won’t need as much cheese if you use a type that has a really strong flavor. (I did sneak in a little Fat Free Half and Half toward the end when I was adding the shrimp.)
If you think you don’t like grits, I hope you try this anyway. After all, who doesn’t like shrimp and who doesn’t like cheese? Find your Southern Side and try some Slow Cooker Three Cheese Shrimp and Grits!
